Hardshell gourds have been used for thousands of years for artwork and functional vessals. I grow mine in the backyard and dry them in the basement. Though some are dyed, I seldome think I can improve on the natural colors so most are simply varnished. The color comes from the embellishments: thread, yarn, wire, and handmade glass beads. If you are interested in purchasing any of my gourds, please visit me at www.etsy.com/shop/AllisonLarkins.
